Delete your Halv account
Halv is a bill-splitting app for iPhone and Android, published by Halv (app ID com.projecthalv.app). This page explains how to delete your Halv account, what gets deleted, and the one thing that stays.
You can delete your account from inside the app, or by emailing hello@halv.money from your account's email address with the subject “Delete my account”. Either way, deletion is completed within 30 days.
Delete it in the app
- Open Halv and go to Settings (the avatar in the top-right corner).
- Open your profile.
- Choose Delete account and confirm.
Before you confirm, Halv asks you to settle any open balances, so nobody you split with is left with a broken ledger. If you can't settle them — someone won't pay, someone left, the group is dormant — use the email path below and we'll delete the account anyway.
Delete it without the app
If you've already uninstalled Halv, or you can't sign in, email hello@halv.money from the email address on the account, with the subject “Delete my account”. We verify ownership by replying to that address — so please send it from the account's own inbox — and we complete the deletion within 30 days.
What gets deleted
- Your login credentials and the account you sign in with.
- Your email address.
- Your profile photo.
- Your payment handles — the bank or phone details you saved so friends could pay you.
- Your push-notification tokens.
- Your receipt scans and scan history.
- Any unused scan credits.
- Our records of your purchases. (Apple and Google keep their own purchase records — we can't delete those, and their support handles refunds and subscriptions.)
- Your analytics profile.
What stays, and why
The expenses and settlements you shared with other people keep your display name. Nothing else. That's the only way their ledgers stay accurate — an expense you paid for can't become an expense nobody paid for. It's the same way Halv already shows people who were added to a split but never signed up: a name on a line.
We keep it under the legitimate interest of the people you split with, in keeping their own financial records correct. Once your account is deleted that name can no longer be used to sign in, to contact you, or to identify you beyond the name those people already saw — and any of them can rename the entry in their own copy. No other personal data of yours is kept.
Backups
Deleted data can persist in our routine encrypted backups for a short while afterwards. Those backups expire within 7 days of the deletion, after which the data is gone from them too.
After deletion
Deletion is permanent. Reinstalling Halv or signing up again with the same email address does not bring anything back — you'd start with a new, empty account.
