Is Halv free?
Yes. Halv is free to download and the core app has no subscription and never will. The receipt scanner is the one paid feature: your first three scans are free, then a Trip Pass for yourself or a Group Pass that covers everyone in the group. Passes are one-off purchases, never subscriptions.
Does Halv hold or move my money?
No. Halv keeps track of who owes who and tells you who pays whom. The money moves however you and your friends normally pay each other, such as Revolut or a bank transfer. Halv only records it.
How do I pay a friend back?
Friends save how they like to be paid. On the settle screen, tap their Revolut chip and Revolut opens with the amount and currency already filled in, or tap their IBAN to copy the details for your banking app, then mark it as paid.
How does Halv handle multiple currencies?
Every group keeps a separate ledger per currency. A dollar expense in a euro trip stays in dollars, so nothing is converted with a made-up exchange rate and nobody has to settle a number that doesn't exist.

How does Halv reduce the number of payments?
Halv simplifies the debts in a group to find the fewest transfers that square everyone up, so a five-person trip settles in a handful of payments instead of ten, and it names exactly who pays whom.
Does everyone in my group need the app?
No. You can add expenses for people who haven't joined yet. They get a web link showing what they owe, and can claim their spot later with their balances intact.
Does Halv work offline?
Yes. Your data lives on your device and syncs when you're back online, so you can add expenses with no signal.
Which phones and languages does Halv support?
Halv runs on iPhone (iOS 18 or later) and Android phones (Android 12 or later), in English and Polish.
