Halv

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 29, 2026

Halv is a bill-splitting app. This policy explains what data we handle, why, and what your rights are. The short version: we store the data you create so the app works across your devices and with the people you split with; we don't run ads and we don't sell your data.

Who we are

Halv ("we") operates the Halv app for iPhone and Android and this website. For anything privacy-related, contact us at hello@halv.money.

Data we collect

How we use it

To run the service: syncing your data between your devices and the people in your groups, calculating balances, sending notifications you've asked for, processing purchases, and responding to support requests. That's it. No advertising, no profiling, no sale of personal data.

Where it lives

Your data is stored and processed by service providers acting on our behalf:

Retention & deletion

Your data is kept while your account exists. Expenses you've shared with others remain part of their records too — deleting your account removes your personal data, while the shared ledger entries you participated in keep your display name so other people's balances stay accurate, the same way Halv shows people who never signed up. That name can no longer be used to sign in, to contact you, or to identify you beyond the name those people already saw, and any of them can rename the entry in their own copy. To delete your account, contact hello@halv.money.

Deleting your account

You can delete your Halv account from inside the app (Settings → your profile → Delete account), or by emailing hello@halv.money from the account's email address with the subject "Delete my account". Deletion is completed within 30 days, and deleted data expires from our routine backups within 7 days after that. What's deleted, what's kept, and why, is set out in full on Delete your Halv account.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and similar laws you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and you can lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Email us and we'll help.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we'll note it in the app or on this page with a new "last updated" date.
