Halv

Terms of Service

Last updated: August 16, 2026

Halv is a bill-splitting app. These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use the Halv app or this website. The short version: use Halv honestly, your data is handled per our Privacy Policy, and Halv keeps track of who owes whom — it doesn't move money.

Who we are

Halv ("we") operates the Halv app for iPhone and Android and this website. For anything about these terms, contact us at hello@halv.money.

The service

Halv lets you record shared expenses, split them with other people, and see who owes whom. Balances in Halv are bookkeeping between you and the people you split with — Halv is not a bank, payment service, or money transmitter, and no money moves through Halv. Settling up happens outside the app, between you. Halv doesn't provide financial, tax, or legal advice, and a balance in Halv isn't a legal determination of a debt.

Your account

You need an account to use Halv. You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent where you live, if higher). Keep your sign-in credentials to yourself — you're responsible for activity on your account. Give us accurate information and keep it up to date.

Your content

The expenses, groups, receipts, and names you add to Halv are yours. By adding them you give us permission to store, process, and sync that content so the service works — including showing shared expenses and balances to the other people who are part of them. That's the point of the app; it's the only reason we use your content. You're responsible for what you enter, including having the right to add other people's names or receipts you upload.

Fair use

Don't use Halv to break the law, harass people, or record fraudulent debts. Don't try to break, probe, or overload the service, access other people's data, or reverse-engineer the app beyond what the law expressly permits. We can suspend or close accounts that do.

Purchases

Some features are paid upgrades. Purchases are made through Apple's App Store or Google Play under their terms and billing; refunds are handled by the store you bought from. Prices and what's included in an upgrade can change, but changes won't take away something you've already bought.

Leaving

You can stop using Halv at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account by emailing hello@halv.money. Expenses you shared with others remain part of their records, as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, and we may discontinue the service with reasonable notice.

Disclaimers & liability

Halv is provided "as is". We work to keep it available and your data intact, but we can't promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we're not a party to — or responsible for — the debts and settlements between you and the people you split with. To the extent permitted by law, our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

Changes

If these terms change materially, we'll note it in the app or on this page with a new "last updated" date. Using Halv after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Poland. If you're a consumer in the EU or elsewhere, you keep the protections of the mandatory consumer laws of the country you live in.
